MFC CamScore Explained - How Homepage Placement Works

webcam.xyz Editorial · 5 min read ·

What Is CamScore?

CamScore is MyFreeCams’ proprietary algorithm that determines where a model appears on the homepage. Higher CamScore = higher placement = more visibility = more viewers. It’s the single most important metric for a model’s success on MFC.

Every model starts with a default CamScore of 1000. From there, it moves up or down based on actual performance. Most models see their score drop in the first few days - 1000 is a generous starting point that few performers maintain without establishing a real audience.

What Affects CamScore

MFC has never published the exact formula, but the factors are well-documented through years of model observation:

Tokens earned per hour online. This is the biggest factor. Models who earn consistently while broadcasting see their CamScore rise. Sitting online for hours without earning will actually lower your score because you’re diluting your per-hour metrics.

Time online. Regular broadcasting contributes positively, but only when combined with earnings. Just being online without receiving tips hurts rather than helps.

Viewer engagement. How many viewers you retain in your room, how long they stay, and how many interact (chat, tip, join group/private).

Consistency. Models who stream on a regular schedule maintain higher scores than those who go live sporadically. The algorithm rewards predictability.

Private show frequency. Booking and completing private shows contributes positively - it signals that viewers value your time enough to pay premium rates.

CamScore vs Rank - Different Things

People confuse these constantly. They’re separate systems:

CamScore determines homepage placement (where you appear in the model grid). It’s an algorithmic quality score.

Rank is a pure leaderboard based on total token earnings during a specific period. The #1 ranked model earned the most tokens that period. Rank has no direct effect on CamScore.

A model can have a high CamScore (good per-hour metrics, consistent streaming) but low rank (doesn’t earn massive totals). Or high rank (huge single sessions) but average CamScore (inconsistent schedule).

Score Ranges

CamScore RangeWhat It MeansApproximate Placement
1500+Elite performersFront page, top rows
1000-1500Strong performersFirst few pages
500-1000Average/developingMiddle pages
Below 500Struggling or newBack pages

The vast majority of models on MFC have CamScores below 1000. Breaking above 1000 consistently puts you ahead of most of the platform.

How to Improve CamScore

Stream during your peak hours. If you earn most during 8pm-midnight, stream then rather than padding hours during slow times. CamScore rewards earnings-per-hour, not total hours.

Keep sessions productive. A 3-hour stream where you earn throughout beats a 6-hour stream where the first 3 hours are dead. Shorter, focused sessions with high engagement outperform marathon dead-room streaming.

Build returning viewers. Regulars who show up every stream and tip contribute to consistent metrics. The algorithm sees stability over time.

Run group shows and privates. These signal high engagement and contribute to both earnings and viewer interaction metrics.

Don’t go offline/online repeatedly. Each fresh session resets certain metrics. Staying online consistently during your scheduled window produces cleaner data for the algorithm.

Common CamScore Questions

Why did my score drop overnight? The algorithm adjusts based on rolling averages. If your recent sessions underperformed relative to your history, the score corrects downward. It’s not a penalty - just a recalculation.

Can I see my exact CamScore? Yes - it’s visible in your model dashboard on MFC. Other models and viewers can also see it on your profile.

Does going on vacation hurt my score? Time offline doesn’t directly decrease your score, but being absent means no new positive data points. Extended breaks (weeks+) may cause gradual decline as your averages age out.

Is CamScore rigged or unfair? The algorithm is opaque, which frustrates some models. But the core principle is straightforward: earn consistently, stream regularly, and engage your audience. Models who do those three things maintain high scores regardless of other factors.
